How to sort eBay search results by most sold

eBay’s sort menu no longer has a “popularity” or “most sold” option. You can still find the best sellers; it just takes a few steps.

Checked on eBay.com on September 27, 2026.

What the sort menu offers now

On an eBay search page the sort menu lists Best Match, Time: ending soonest, Price + Shipping: lowest first, Price + Shipping: highest first, Distance: nearest first and Time: newly listed. None of these orders results by how many units sold. Older browser extensions that relied on the removed popularity sort stopped working.

Method 1: read the “sold” badges by hand

  1. Search for the item and keep the default Best Match sort.
  2. Look under each price for a line like 73+ sold. It appears on listings with more than one unit, such as Buy It Now listings with quantity.
  3. Switch the view to 240 items per page so you can scan more listings at once.
  4. Note the listings with the highest counts. Those are the proven sellers for that search.

This works, but on a 240-item page it is slow and easy to miss a listing.

Method 2: check what actually sold

  1. Open the Filter menu and turn on Sold Items. eBay shows up to about 90 days of sold listings.
  2. You must be signed in to eBay. Since July 2026, sold and completed searches redirect signed-out visitors to the sign-in page.
  3. Sold listings show the sale date and the sold price in green. A crossed-out price means it sold through an accepted Best Offer and the real price is hidden.

This tells you what sells, but not which active listing to study. Sold results are not guaranteed to be in sale-date order, so check the dates as you scroll.

Method 3: one click with SoldScope

SoldScope is a free Chrome extension that adds a “Sort by most sold” button to every eBay search. It reads the sold badges on the page and reorders the results, and a second click puts eBay’s order back. On sold searches the same button sorts by newest sale first.

It also shows the sell-through rate and the median sold price for the search, using your own eBay session. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server.
